Weston Park May Fayre at Weston Park, Sheffield on May 21st 2017
I inherited several trees in 1996 from my father. In caring for them and my father’s memory, I joined The Darlington Bonsai Society. I was soon ‘conned’ into being Secretary, a position I still hold with ‘Tees Valley B.S.’. I broadened my early knowledge at Willowbog Bonsai, mentored by Marco Invernizzi, Marc Noelanders and Len Gilbert. Latterly at the Burrs workshop run by Tony Tickle working with Pavel Slovak [Czech Republic] and Akamatsu school of Bonsai run by Rob Atkinson.
A exhibition of trees and bonsai techniques can be seen throughout the day.
My talk will explain itoigawa juniper from cuttings, through to Shohin size bonsai. Pines from collected material to specimen bonsai. I hope that I can give beginners some motivational insight into starting bonsai wisely, to the more experienced, inspiration to create specimen bonsai.
